BANANA SOCIETY

The solar dried banana community has grown over generations in Phitsanulok province in Thailand, a region with a long tradition of producing dried bananas. The community's home in "Bangkratum District" has a hundred year old heritage of dried banana production.

Our long involvement with dried banana production gives us unique insight to the health and hygiene issues associated with traditional open sun natural banana drying processed. Our insight has also allowed us to improve quality and reduce the level of waste in traditional banana dtying processes.

To ensure that our tradition local knowledge was captured and applied to modern natural and hygienic production processes, we established the "Booppa Dried Banana Community Enterprise" in 2005 to improve the quality of dried banana production. This has enabled us to build the reputation of Phitsanulok Province for dried banana production; and to attract new generations to the delicious taste and health benefits of dried bananas.

We applied traditional knowledge and methods to develop innovative modern processes to produce dried bananas. We addressed questions of how to dry bananas in hygienic and controlled environments. And how to ensure we did this as environmentally sensitively as possible, using sustainable methods and energy sources wherever possible.

With the help of various Thai governmental and academic institutions, we developed a parabola dome (green house) solor drying process. This innovative production process is at the forefront of hygienic and sustainable dried solor banana production in Thailnd. The process has applied traditional banana drying processes to produce world class dried bananas.

This new sustainable world class dried banana production process was developed in partnership with the governmental and academic institutions below.

The Banana Society has developed the most innovative dried banana production processes in Thailand. Our world class production processes have improved local banana drying techniques in Phitsanulok Province's Bangkratum District.

Our innovative modern processes, aligned to international GMP standards, have created a new consumer perception of dried banana products. As new markets for our dried banana products grow, we continue to develop the environmental friendliness, sustainability and quality of our dried banana product ranges.
